10-27 Info
NC ONLY:
Automatic State & NCIC Wanted Check when checking 27 by name or OLN
If you should get a person with a "Merged File" -- an OL issued in an alias name -- remember the automatic DCI/NCIC wanted check is based on the TRUE NAME. Always perform a Wanted Persons inquiry by name and DOB on the ALIAS name to ensure no wants are listed for the alias identity.
Out-of-State 27:
Automatic DCI/NCIC wanted check when done by Name & DOB ONLY.
27 by OLN does NOT generate the wanted check.
NLETS transactions do NOT generate the automatic LE Multiple Search for CCH, DVPO, or Sex Offender files.
Regional Codes are permitted by Name and DOB for issuance only, not Driver's Histories.
If you need a Driver's History from a state that does not participate in an automated search you can ask Warrant Control to do a special request on an in-house terminal. Usually a certified copy is mailed from the other state's DMV office.
For special requests which involve an off-line search for information from the DMV-Drivers License computer system, you must submit your request in writing to the DMV-Drivers License Section. Documentation may be in the form of a FAX Transmission to (919) 215-4606 or letter to the below address:
